Review of Inferno (2016) by Andy G — 21 Jan 2017
As a fan of Assassin's Creed, it almost seems like Dan Brown took all the coolest locations in the Ezio Trilogy and formed a story around them. It's even got a character with a hidden blade!
On a serious note, this movie isn't as good as the first two. It has an interesting idea behind it, but it gets played off as more of an action movie than the typical smart puzzle solving structure this series usually takes. There's a little bit of that in there, but it takes too long to get to it, and there's just not enough of it. The cast does a good job, and I even thought Felicity Jones did a better job in this than she did in Rogue One, but in the end the story just wasn't that strong. That being said, it is still a decent action movie, it has some nice visuals (although they go overboard in the beginning with the weirdness), and I think it's worth a watch. I do think it has some rewatchability, so I may consider buying it, especially if the 4K Blu-ray has good HDR, but I doubt it will be rewatched as much as the others if I do.
Personal Grade: A.
Technical Score: 70%.
