Review of Inferno (2016) by Warwick B — 15 Nov 2016

Following The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, this third adaptation of a Dan Brown thriller sees Ron Howard back in the director's chair and Tom Hanks reprise his role as the Harvard professor of religious iconography and symbology Robert Langdon.

This movie around sees Langdon, with surgeon sidekick Dr Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) attempting to decipher hidden meanings in Dante's Inferno to prevent biotech billionaire Bertrand Zobrist (Ben Foster) from unleashing a deadly virus that threatens to wipe out half the world's population. On their trail as they race across Europe on a treasure hunt unravelling a fiendish puzzle of clues are a gang of heavily armed World Health Organisation operatives and a mysterious assassination cartel out to kill them. But even if they find the virus in time, who can they trust with it?

Dull and forgettable the film is an unholy mash up between Indiana Jones in The Hangover and a Jason Bourne chase movie.
