Review of Infernal Affairs II (2003) by Louis D — 15 Dec 2007
One's enjoyment of Infernal Affairs II increases with, but is not dictated solely by, a base interest in the franchise's first installment. Overall this prequel is a solid crime film, depicting the lost years of Chan Wing Yan's undercover infiltration and Inspector Lau's various promotions at the police force, as well as an in-depth examination of the psychologies of Inspector Wong Chi Shing and Boss Hon Sam.
However, if not absolutely enthralled by the first film's content, then Infernal Affairs II will fall short due to this audience-specific dependency.
