Review of Infernal Affairs II (2003) by Naoya K — 19 Jul 2009
I love this one even more than the first one. Lacking two biggest stars of Hong Kong, Tony and Andy, who the first one had, this is more focused on the battle and friendship between a cop and a mafia - Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang, with detail and rich drama and characters.
Carina character is kind of weak and strange, but Francis Ng played the boss of mafia really really well, and Jun Hu on Anthony Wong's buddy cop is totally the right choice. Each scenes are well planed and carefully crafted, especially the ending scene when the fiction meets the real.
It is, however, dealing with the long span of time (1991-1997), so it is in some scenes quite a rush. Still, this and the first one together are definitely historical masterpieces.
