Review of Infernal Affairs (2002) by Madeline M — 22 Jan 2010
The cinematography is so nice, there were seconds when I forgot to watch the actors . . . which is irritating! Because they were GREAT. The story has the potential to, um, tempt scenery chewing? But the performances are magnificently restrained (uh, obviously: Tony Leung is in this movie!) and although I think it's more straightforward than you might think - there are one or two twists, but they are the kind of twist that immediately fit into the narrative - it is still a very intelligent, tense, and exciting film.
