Review of Infamous (2006) by Benjamin F — 29 Feb 2008
I haven't seen Hoffman's Capote yet, so I can't contrast them at this point, but Infamous was an intriguing film. Of course, you'd think it'd be pretty hard to screw up a story as intriguing as Truman Capote's investigation that led to the writing of In Cold Blood and his connections with the killers.
The film had a strong cast (As a fan of Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies, it was certainly interesting seeing Lee Pace in such a different role.), and took an interesting approach to the story, taking us in and out of the moments each of the events occurred, with commentary from others in Capote's life.
At times there were moments where things felt a little trite and awkward though, to be sure. It isn't a flawless film by any stretch of imagination. But if you're interested in Capote's story, Infamous is worth your time.
