Review of Infamous (2006) by James D — 20 Aug 2008
Having just seen Capote, it took me a while to get into this very differently paced film, but having stuck with it I found it to be very enjoyable.
Toby Jones is a perfect replica of Truman Capote, Daniel Craig proves his worth as an actor & then some, and the stellar supporting cast, seeming to be bit parts in Capotes life, are great.
This movie paints a more sympathetic portrait than Capote did, and explored the relationship between Perry & Truman in more depth.
It is strange to have 2 movies made about the same events which have very different styles & takes on the story, but which are equally good.
It's almost as if they should be seen together to get the whole picture.
And, shockingly, even Sandra Bullock turned out a solid & self-contained performance - she can act! Who whold've thought it?!
