Review of Indochine (1992) by Bill C — 27 Jul 2013
An eventually compelling, if uneven melodrama set against the backdrop of dwindling French colonial influence in what was to become a Vietnam partitioned in 1954. Sumptuously filmed, stunningly produced, but victim of a fragmented and awkward screenplay - often absent any real and sustaining emotion.
There should have been more tears to hold back.
