Review of Indignation (2016) by Karen W — 15 Aug 2016
Indignation: anger or annoyance provoked by what is perceived as unfair treatment; and/or how someone might feel after paying to be sitting through this movie. The hour and fifty minutes is excruciatingly tedious as the scenes unfold into a nowhere plot, tied together by inexplicably condescending conversation connectors.
This premiss had such promise. It could have been a brilliant film. It's potential is so obvious, at certain points our hope was sparked for a few seconds and then quickly doused in regret for awaking at all.
I am giving one star to Linda Emond who plays the arrogant self indulgent main character's Mother with brilliance, and another star for getting this pathetic mess to the big screen... that must have been exhaustingly painful and humiliating.
No idea why this has 80%. The only explanation I could surmise would be to consider people may have thought it went over their heads and instead of being called out for not understanding it, over compensated and rated it highly? Please see this only out of curiosity with zero expectations if you must.
