Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by Jake R — 22 Apr 2014
Easily the most thrilling of the original three Indies, and it's no mistake: there isn't a single "meanwhile" or "and then" beat in the entire movie. It's just one visceral scene flowing into the next, and one of the best examples of why Spielberg is the reigning king of popcorn cinema.
He's economical with his screen time, injecting purpose into every moment. Michael Bay designs 20-minute action scenes to look neat, Spielberg designs them to draw out emotional responses with surgical precision.
I love this movie.
