Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by James R — 10 Aug 2014
Harrison Ford returns as Indiana Jones in this prequel (god damn was I the only one who didn't know this?) to the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). This time around Indy is tasked by a small Indian village to journey to Pankot Palace to uncover a terrible plot involving a cult that is capturing children to uncover hidden lost magical stones.
Journeying with Indy this time around is Short Round (Quan Ke Huy) and annoying ass Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw). The film is much darker in tone than Raiders (at one point a man's still beating heart is ripped out of his body for god's sake), but man does this just bring back a lot of nostalgic feelings.
The film has a lot of action and adventure from a Shanghai Nightclub escape scene to a mine cart race through a mountain Temple of Doom delivers. Just about everyone breathing in their 20's on up has seen this film, but if your one of the few who hasn't seen it do yourself a favor and check this out!
