Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by Carlos I — 26 Jan 2016
Many people have valid gripes about this film (shrill, annoying characters, culturally insensitive stereotypes--all 15 years before The Phantom Menace, no less) but if you take the experience on its own terms, the whole thing just works. The first 20 minutes are absolutely thrilling, as is the entire third act (and the middle has plenty of fun moments as well).
This is perhaps not a work of art like Raiders, but for pure, well-crafted entertainment, Temple of Doom is still great entertainment, a la Return of the Jedi.
