Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by Matthew D — 21 Oct 2017
Movie Matt here with Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom, the second (first chronologically) film of the Indiana Jones series. Again, no recaps here because almost everyone's seen this at some point.
The tone of the film actually surprised audiences in 1984, being slightly darker & having more mature themes than "Raiders" did. Granted, this was a prequel to Raiders if you look at it chronologically so the characterization of Indiana Jones himself is different the Indy we know from Raiders onward.
Actually, this film (along with Gremlins) actually inspired the MPAA to instate the PG-13 rating & it shows in this film visually (ie: child slavery, a guy getting his heart ripped out among other things).
Not for the younger kids but still enjoyable for the older ones. 5/5.
