Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by Grimmster — 01 Feb 2023
This is certainly my favorite film in the Indiana Jones series. First we start the film with the fabulous song "Anything Goes". It really does set the tone of the entire movie and it only tops off an already great soundtrack.
The chaos of the scene in Club Obi Wan is excellent. I love the irony of Indy saying, "Nice Try Lao Che" and immediately getting on a Lao Che airplane. The raft scene really brings the thrills.
Many of the other scenes like the spike room, and ripping out the heart give this movie a really different and welcome change to the first. The scene in which we see Indy get "possessed" by the cult is certainly the most Indy has physically and mentally been scarred.
Seeing Indy writhing on the slab is unsettling to this day but brings the movie to the next level. I don't have anything else to say about this film that wouldn't be me just repeating myself more. Definitely recommend.
