Review of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) by Noah M — 25 Jul 2018
From the bizarre opening with musical number 'Anything Goes' Indy second outing often seems to live by that mantra; trying out anything to keep your attention. The first film was cartoonish, but Temple of Doom is often slapstick or just silly, a strong resourceful sidekick is traded for two annoying ones and the pacing is off and the suspense is never felt in the way it is in Raiders.
Despite these problems the magic shines through in the third act and the film is saved by memorable set-pieces.
