Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) by Brian G — 02 Mar 2013
I don't believe an adventurer such as Indiana Jones would expect to find evidence of aliens in South America. That's very unoriginal. And though the action is great, Harrison Ford's performance is impressive for a guy in his mid-60s, and Cate Blanchett plays a great villain, but it lacks the visual and smartly-written remarks of the originals - Yet, it's also more predictable, completely flawed, and the most stupid Indy yet.
In fact, it's not even as fast-paced as the originals. Its more slowly conceiving and made like a comical rip-off. It even ripped off parts of The Temple of Doom. But thanks to the great performances and nearly-perfect directing from Steven Spielberg, it's worth seeing as a thriller.
But may I have the right to praise the performances? Of course, Cate Blanchett plays a great Russian general. But if only it was better and not-so-lazily underdone.
~6.5/10.
