Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) by Wesley W — 12 Dec 2013
A disappointment that doesn't reach the level of greatness of the first three. I still thought the action sequences were good and I thought there were good elements like the discovery of the skull, the motorcycle chase in the city, and Harrison Ford's performance.
The things that made this movie a disappointment was the fact that some of the action was tensionless because Indiana Jones was never really challenged physically like he was on the other three movies and he seemed to be on top of things throughout.
The script did not live up to the other three films either and Karen Allen's return as Marion felt forced. The finales of the other movies were fantastic and they were edge of your seat greatness, but the finale here relied too heavily on cgi to try to entertain and it just didn't feel like Indiana Jones when watching it.
Overall I didn't end up hating the film like others would and I thought there were entertaining elements here, but in the end the film ends up being disappointing compared to the other three movies.
