Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) by Ryan B — 14 Jun 2015
The danger in revisiting past glories is that they may not live up to expectations, but then the Indiana Jones franchise never has lived up to the impeachable Raiders of the Lost Ark. Crystal Skull is often criticised for the presence of aliens, for the revisited relationship and Dr Jones being faced with responsibility, but the alien aspect is fine in that it suits the decade it's set, much in the same way the occult, the majestic and tomb raiding fascinated audiences during the times of previous adventures.
Star Wars suffered the same, as did the recent Jurassic World to a more limited extent. It will never be the one from your childhood.
