Review of Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) by Frank V — 12 Aug 2016
The members of the original ID cast all perform nicely, but new members are pretty bland and boring, with Maika Monroe coming the closest to be interesting.
The lack of interest/excitement is also the problem with much of the movie. It lacks emotional impact, nor is it even really exciting enough to be an interesting way to kill two hours. Also suffers a bit from breaking its own rules (sometimes shields work, other times they don't. enemy troopers need to be killed from behind, but then later the enemy troopers just get gunned down no problem.).
I didn't find it painful to watch, but I'd say just go watch the original again instead.
