Review of Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) by David_H — 02 Jul 2016
The original film with Will Smith I thought was quite entertaining, if a bit cheesy. This remake takes cheesy to a whole new level. I spent half the movie rolling my eyes and nearly just walked out about three quarters of the way through.
You get Bill Pullman's character drumming up yet another (but somehow spontaneous) "inspiring" speech where of course all the nearby aircraft mechanics and pilots drop everything they're doing to drop their jaws in awe of his words of wisdom.
Then you get a heavy dose of politically correct messages of "can't we all get along?" thrown in. It is 120 minutes of my life I will never get back.
