Review of Independence Day (1996) by Everett N — 11 Dec 2012
Besides its groundbreaking special effects, Independence Day is almost criminally short on the normally involving character development that would make a film like this an epic in the disaster film genre.
Of course, Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum perform as competently as expected, but the film leaves one feeling rather unfulfilled after all is said and done. A cameo by Brent Spiner as a kooky Area 51 scientist is a nice addition, though.
