Review of Incredibles 2 (2018) by Jacob B — 04 Aug 2018
Like Finding Dory, which I also loved, this movie works best if you see it as its own thing rather than merely a sequel to the first film. It really enhanced my viewing experience. After a poignant short film that has very impressively rendered food, I was treated to one of the most lovely things my corneas have ever witnessed.
Of course, what more could I expect from Pixar? After the mixed reviews Brad Bird's previous film Tomorrowland received, I was concerned about this movie's quality. And "Animation directors can't do live-action" isn't a valid excuse because Bird also directed Mission Impossible 4, my favourite of the M:I movies to date.
So I was cautious with my anticipation. And, to my surprise, I got an action-packed, funny, thoughtful story. Bird just might be my second-favourite animation director behind Andrew Stanton. The first movie was incredible.
And Incredibles 2 is incredible too.
