Fourteen years after the release of the original Incredibles movie, the super family; Mr. Incredible, Elastic Girl, Violet, Dash and Jack Jack, is back.The long interval was due to director Brad Bird’s reluctance to jump right into a sequel until he was sure he had the elements to make one, which did not happen until 2015.

Although understandabe, this can be risky for two reasons, it tests the audience’s patience and if a sequel does not turn out to be at least as good as, if not better than the original, then it can backfire spectacularly, as the response to Cars 2 illustrates.

The first Incredibles movie became a cinematic phenomenon, and rightly so because of the bold concept it represented and the audacious direction in which Pixar was headed with its production. There just was no way, such a well-received movie was not going to get a sequel.

..and eventually it did.The sequel picks up where the first movie left off, a villain, the underminer uses a giant boring machine to dig underground into the city bank to steal money from its vault.The Incredibles, along with their superhero partner, Frozone, who also returns, attempt to foil the robbery but fail, with massive damage done to the city.

This prompts outrage against the Incredibles and Frozone, in particular and superheroes in general, leading to a law banning the activities of superheroes and shutting down the government programme under which they had operated.

Faced with bills to pay the Parrs (Mr. Incredible and Elastic Girl) ponder the future and their need for regular jobs, as it appears they had essentially been on the government payroll, as part of the now shutdown superheroes programme.

It is at this point that a rich business man who owns Telecoms Company, Devtech, contacts them through Frozone and invites all three to a meeting, at which his sister (the brains behind the company’s tech) is present, where he pitches an idea to them.

He believes that if they participate in what he plans, it will correct the public’s misconception about superheroes and get them to be accepted again.All agree to participate and subsequent events see the Incredibles face off against their main foe in this movie, the self-described Screen Slayer, in fast-paced action which unfolds along with dramatic incidental music.

The movie’s comedic moments revolve around Jack Jack’s many superpowers to hilarious effect.This is an outstanding action movie that just happens to be animated.It is that good.
