Review of Incident at Loch Ness (2004) by Vern W — 19 Jan 2008
The ending is a bit of a misfire that's uneven in terms of the tone found in the rest of the film. That being said, this is one hell of a funny movie for anyone who's ever seen both "Fitzcarraldo" and "X2: X-Men United".
Herzog and Penn make for great leads and the ongoing tension between them as ideas clash is hysterical and a great send-up of the workings of modern Hollywood. The movie is billed as a thriller, but that's misleading.
It's a comedy, and it probably won't ring as well with those unfamiliar with the works of Herzog. Those who've seen his work at a late night movie house will love it.
