Review of Inception (2010) by Tommy H — 14 Apr 2015
I didn't like Inception as much as I should have because of the hype. I was expecting something that would challenge the intellect, or present a philosophical enigma, or be the kind of movie that's a little different each time you watch it because of the depth and complexity of the movies ideology. But no, it's just a fantasy movie about dreams. Really, it's no different then The Matrix. That movie was successful because of a fresh concept, style, stoic acting and ground-breaking CGI. And people who told me the plot was complicated must have seen a different movie because everything that's happening is explained like a tutorial cut-scene in a video game.
What's great about the movie are the scenes of chaos. Very cool. And the actors. Joseph-Gordon Levitt is my favorite. I don't know if that guy sold his soul to the devil for fame, but I think he has an amazing screen presence. I can't believe he started out as Tommy on 3rd Rock From The Sun.
