Review of Inception (2010) by Mayank A — 20 Aug 2015
10 years ago, writer/director Christopher Nolan began writing what would be known today as Inception, a brilliant masterpiece that dives into a world of unimaginable excitement that will blow your mind.
Its a story about stealing, or extracting, information from someones subconscience through their dreams. But when master extractor Cobb is asked to be involved in an Inception, planting information in someones mind, it brings him on a journey that could have drastic outcomes.
There a three levels of someones dreams and each level is a new begining to finding that secret, or planting new information. But the deeper you go, the further you dive into that persons subconscience, which is not always a good thing, you follow me.
This is a very hard movie to follow if you are not commited to following the story. I was following very closely through the entire film and when it was over, I was blown away.
The story is intelligent and thrilling. The acting, from all the actors, was excellent. The direction was brilliant and the special effects are beautiful, including a very entertaining gravity fight scene with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
If you are expecting a shoot em up action sci-fi picture, this is not it. There is just enough action to keep you satisfied but that is not the main objective here. The main point of this movie is for you to think about whats going on. In todays movies, they are very simple, no thinking involved kind of pictures. Not Inception, this is a movie that will have you discussing it with your friends for awhile. The ending is totally up to you. You decide what the ending should or could be.
If you are easily bored with thinkers, then I would suggest staying away from this. But I'm telling you, if you can stand being mentally challenged for 2 1/2 hours, then you must go see this brilliant film. I promise you, you will not be dissapointed.
I haven't seen anything this original for a long time. And don't let anyone tell you it is a rip off of The Matrix because they are wrong. Inception is without a doubt in a dream world of its own.
5 out of 5.
