Review of Incendies (2010) by James O — 17 Jun 2014
An incredible story that follows a pair of twins' search for their mother's mystery shrouded life in Lebanon and in-turn their life and origin. The movie is a very enchanting tale of hardship and affliction in a war torn fictional town of Daresh in Lebanon. Jeanne and Simon Marwan look for clues that point them to their mother's past in present day Daresh only to uncover secrets, which would best be left hidden.
The movie has so many plot twists that it feels fresh at every new turn, finally converging into an emotional climax that will leave you breathless, as the secrets of Nawal Marwan's life are brought to light.
The acting, the direction and the melodramatic storyline fit perfectly to produce this gem of a movie. It makes you think and comprehend the misfortune ,pain and misery that war brings to some families.
