Review of Incendiary (2008) by Carmen D — 09 Aug 2009
I love this movie! Michelle Williams is incandescent. Ewan Mcgregor and Matthew Macfayden are both great. I love Matthew from the MI-5 series (Spooks in UK). One of the finest cliches which is transmitted like haiku is the toll a policeman's work places on the family life.
We already know that from all the crime drama we've read and watched since the 70's, so it just need a few lines to be transmitted. The hot-shot penis is also a hot-shot journalist, with a little Beckham moue.
The son of the bomber is a good addition to the story, not extraneous. She is having a false start as she seeks something back from the bomber's family but false starts are reality in reconstruction and grief.
The loss and breakdown are dramatically sound. This is a great movie and has elements a lot could love including the religion of Arsenal. I'm a pediatrician and old and this is a good mother story.
