Review of In Time (2011) by Helen S — 28 Mar 2013
It's a shame. This is a decent premise that could've been a great political allegory on capitalism, with a nice sideline exploring the price of immortality and the neurosis of wealth. But it isn't. It's a shallow chase movie with a sub par Robin Hood/Bonnie and Clyde plot, a clunky script and and sketchily drawn characters.
In this future reality where no one physically ages passed 25, it's disappointing that some of the more interesting concepts (such as how do you know if the pretty girl catching your eye in a bar is someone's daughter, wife, or mother? or grandmother?) are casually discarded rather than developed.
Not an awful film - just a bit of a let down when you realise it could've been so much more. Alex Pettyfer gets half a star for being a pretty good hoodlum, the rest is decidedly average.
