Review of In Time (2011) by Pedrots — 06 Jun 2017
The plot of the movie is great on the surface: humans have managed to live forever in the bodies of 25 year olds and now time is the currency. But its execution is what really bothered me. I mean if humans are so smart and technologically advanced that they discovered how to stop ageing, why leave an open bank account on everyone's arm that is likely to be stolen jut by touching someone else? This really disturbed me, as the whole plot revolved around money being stolen and used this way. Is totally unplausible that a huge security breach like this could happen in reality.
Besides that, the move is entertaining and location works great. But the little details are really off-putting and take you out of the experience.
Another one: in a scene after a severe car crash that involved them, the protagonists just walk... no, in fact run away with little to no wounds, when in real life they'd been dead without a doubt. I mean Will's head SMASHED the windhsield and he's not even hurt? That's just too much.
The characters are very one dimensional, and very badly written.
In the second half the plot goes south, as the two protagonists transform into some sort of social justice avenger for the poor. Really? that's the best you could do?
And also Sylvia was the daughter of one of the richest men in the world, and she starts robbing banks as if nothing had happened? Talking about impossible.
And the acting is just SO BAD at some points. When will visits his friend (the guy from BBT) and his wife told him he's dead he doesn't even react. I mean, when he gave him a money-decade earlier he told him he was like a brother, and then he doesn't shed even a tear when he dies? Really bad acting and writing. The movie is not complete **** but these little things made the experience much much less enjoyable.
