Review of In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007) by Julian B — 02 May 2013
Despite my love and affection for fantasy and science fiction it was relatively hard to find much to like in this film. It used and borrowed so many incomplete elements of fantasy that sometimes it became astonishingly annoying.
The film boasts some sub-par performances and uses production that seems sometimes to be laughable. The plot is convoluted and the emotional profundity was nearly non-existent. Just a mix of too many things done below average.
There were some cool parts here and there and it wasn't exactly tormenting to watch. It really struggled to find something tangible in the emotional journey and giving some substance in its action sequences.
However, it was overall really mundane and not very good as well as using too many incomplete elements and tones.
