Review of In the Name of the Father (1993) by Vlad P — 15 Dec 2009
Daniel Day-Lewis stars in this real life story of the 'Guilford Four', who were imprisoned for an IRA bombing they didn't commit. As Gerry Conlon, Day-Lewis gives a typically gutsy performance as we observe his transformation from idle youth to embittered justice-seeker.
The other actors are also impressive, in particular Pete Postlethwaite as Gerry's father. This is a hard-hitting and sometimes brutal film, yet one which also carries an uplifting message of hope.
