Review of In the Name of the Father (1993) by Travis V — 13 Dec 2010
I realize that I'm seventeen years late in seeing this movie, but at least I finally saw it, and it is extraordinary, compelling, and extremely moving. Additionally, Daniel Day-Lewis, brilliant thespian that he is, is completely possessed by the spirit of Gerry Conlon; he is Gerry Conlon when he is on screen. It's an amazing performance.
And this movie will definitely arouse your passions: at one point, I was screaming obscenities and flipping the bird at the British detectives who intentionally fabricated their case to frame eleven innocent Irish men and women for the bombing of a London pub.
