Review of In the Name of the Father (1993) by Dean M — 22 May 2011
This is a great and very dense movie. With accurate epoque/historical reconstruction and epical performances.Daniel Day-Lewis is a fenomenal actor and Emma Thompson is brilliant. The final scene in the court-room is exciting and touching.
I give this movie five stars and catalogue in my collection as a modern classic. The plot is based on the true life story of the Guildford Four, four people falsely convicted of the IRA's Guildford pub bombings which killed four off-duty British soldiers and a civilian.
The screenplay was adapted by Terry George and Jim Sheridan from the autobiography Proved Innocent: The Story of Gerry Conlon of the Guildford Four by Gerry Conlon.
