Review of In the Mouth of Madness (1995) by Joe H — 01 Jul 2011
Carpenter does great work with B-movies that have first-class ambitions. In the Mouth of Madness plays like alow-grade Videodrome with books. Though it isn't as scary, it's a lot of fun, with plenty of creepy atmosphere, neat effects and even some understated gore.
The end is part darkly hilarious and part cop-out, but I really dug it.
