Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Nilufer R — 15 Mar 2011
A unique style for the film industry definitely created due to it's Chinese director/writer Wong Kar Wai. In any typical Hollywood film, two people that find themselves alone, together, and united by their respective spouses having an affair would have fallen for each other, and done the dirty.
Not these two Chinese. They maintain a healthy level of friendship, and resist the urge to take it to the next level, not just because of their desire to 'not be like "them" ' but also because of the shame culture China possesses.
Good performances, and clever use of the camera to just about raise this film out of the boredom charts.
