Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Christopher G — 25 Sep 2013
Kar Wai Wong's elegant In the Mood For Love agonizingly scrutinizes the relationship between Hong Kong neighbors beginning in 1961, a man (Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) whose spouses are having an affair with each other.
Fragmented and impressionistic, contemplative and teasing, a triumph of visual storytelling. I really liked how we never see the "other" couple, thereby investing all our emotions with the jilted pair.
A film in which the words never said speak volumes.
