Finding the sensual without relying on the human body, In The Mood For Love paints an immensely beautiful but ultimately tragic image of unrequited love. The film narrates as smoothly as a human palm glides over an aroused body, and traverses the intricacies of human relationship with as much care and sensitivity as you would the path to the soul of your lover.

The two lead actors gave life to the characters as they presented the star-crossed lovers with grace and realism. The film banked just as heavily on its aesthetically stunning cinematography as well--Wong Kar Wai's images are pure poetry.

The story is wrought with smoldering sexual tension without having to reveal any amount of skin, and it leaves the audiences as unfulfilled as the characters themselves.
