Wickedly funny dialogue, manic panic, and inept politicians and aides abound in In the Loop, a British satire of US/British policy and war. In the Loop picked up an Oscar nomination for its screenplay just the other day, and I will fess up and say, "I guess I can see why.

" There were probably a few others that might have won my slot on the ballot; but I cannot deny that In the Loop is laugh-out-loud funny at times and sharper than a Ginsu. Its only real problem is that the movie is filled with "fast-talkers" and with the heavy accent it can become somewhat hard to follow -- and this is coming from someone who loves subtitles.

I have read that the movie is boring and lacks any plot because nothing happens ... but I have to argue against that because VERY much does happen (it is just that nothing does). Humm ... right? This movie is ALL talk, though, so if one gets tired of watching two great actors spar off on the other one I could not recommend this one for a rental.

If dialogue-heavy films are for you, and you are content with watching two hours of idiots bickering about gibberish (because it is all made-up baloney anyway) than you might enjoy this cup of tea. Drink it with a Fig Newton.
