Review of In the Loop (2009) by John D — 07 May 2010
In the Loop was great. It is a quick-witted comedy, filmed in the now almost common vein of ultra-realism (a la The Office). This film's key point is to project the corruption that is all things politics (on either side of the pond -- it doesn't matter), but it also expresses two truths: 1) The good guys will always lose (in the realm of international politics, that is) or 2) will have to tolerate but not support the evil around them.
That being said, all serious undertones aside, this film is hilarious, if you have the stomach for it. As previously stated, the humor is very quick-witted and much of it is very British. I'd recommend seeing this based on Peter Capaldi and David Rasche's performances alone.
