Review of In the Loop (2009) by Marc L — 29 Jun 2010
Brilliant one-liners, hysterically funny characters and absurd political situations make this a totally enjoyable treat. There's no real moral to it, no neat happy ending, just a bunch of foul mouthed political power-brokers either trying to avert war, or to bring it on at any cost.
Anna Chlumsky holds her own well against a formidible British cast, in fact her facial expressions are a mix of beauty and rubber-faced clown. Peter Capaldi is wonderfully beserk as he literally runs across Washington DC from one disaster to another, Tom Hollander is memorably befuddled and Gina McKee is as superb as ever.
Listen closely though, the dialogue and accents come thick and fast!
