Review of In the Loop (2009) by Antonis Z — 20 Apr 2010
That's a killer political satire in the English tradition of such type of films. With a masterly screenplay and a very careful direction this film just couldn't go wrong.
The first thing that the viewer notices here is the "dry" and abrupt movement of the camera and a great use of the editing. All that result to a documentary-feel presentation that adds a realistic feeling to the movie.
An escalating tension caused by several disclosures during the film contributes to the suspenseful development of the story. It's all remarkably orchestrated as you get a new suspense "punch", just when you've "digested" the previous one!
All performances are amazing but Peter Capaldi's stands as one of the most outstanding of the whole 2009! What a stellar performance!
This is the greatest political satire of 2009.
