Review of In the Loop (2009) by John C — 11 Apr 2011
"Flagging" this film that's a little close to bureaucratic home in parts, laughably off in others, and funny throughout. I kept asking myself, is this how our UK Foreign Office colleagues really see us? (Says one staff aide to an offended older UK counterpart during a pre-meeting briefing: "I'm 22, but my birthday is in 9 days if it would make you feel better to wait.
") James Gandolfini's screen time, while disappointingly minimal, is worth every second -- especially late in the film when he finally loses his temper with erstwhile hook-up Karen Clark. Watch with notebook in hand and English subtitles on, to record all the excellent British obscenities.
