Armando Iannucci directed and co-wrote (with his "The Thick of It" writing team) this feature film that is essentially a feature adaptation of the British TV show "The Thick of It".

The only real characters fro mthe TV show that are featured in this film are Malcolm Tucker, played brilliantly vile by Peter Capaldi, and Tucker's equally aggressive (if not more so) cohort Jamie MacDonald.

Many castmembers from the series do appear, but in different roles. I quite enjoyed the TV series, and this film is a solid addition, as Capaldi is wonderful fun to watch as the foul mouthed and intimidating Tucker.

The series focuses more on satirizing the British government, while this film satirizes both the American and British governments in the lead up to the Iraq war. No political parties are stated throughout the film (or the series for that matter), and who the war is with or why aren't explicitly stated either, which is quite a plus in my opinion.

A quality film that doesn't do injustice to the series that preceded/followed it (the film was made in between seasons). Recommended for those who enjoy a good political satire.
