Review of In the Line of Duty: The F.B.I. Murders (1988) by Lee K — 09 Oct 2010
I originally saw this in the 80's and I have to say was the best damn made for tv movie I have ever seen. Definatly made me research the actual crime spree and shootout that Matix and Platt did during this period. Fbi still consider the shootout with these two one of the worst in us history. David Soul and Michael Gross do a impressive job as the cold blooded killers expecially Michael Gross, for those of you who dont know who he is, he was Steven Keaton in Family Ties. I remember being a fan of Family Ties when it was airing weekly back in the 80's and seeing this movie I had trouble looking at Michael Gross the same way lol!
Another actor in my mind was under rated. This is the second made for tv movie that I have seen David Soul in (Hutch in Starsky and Hutch) The first being Salem's Lot another film he was superb in. Dick Lowry gives us and pretty accurate account of the shootout and these 30 smoething ex marines who were not going to be taken alive!
