I was expecting the usual teen romance thing but was caught suprisingly offguard. Everyone is charismatic given the rather depressing tone of the film dealing with heartbreak and cancer (yikes).
It defies the norm and shows human relationships in a more realistic manner...but still has a nice film gloss to it.
