Review of In the Land of Women (2007) by Tyler L — 29 Jul 2009
In my opinion, this is a beautiful film. The movie tells the story of a broken hearted young man who moves in to take care of his slowing dying grandmother. Along the way he makes relationships with both the women across the street and his grandmother.
As his relationship grows with the mother across the street who has been diagnosed with cancer (Meg Ryan), he begins to spend time with her daughter (Kristen Stewart). As he oversteps his boundaries and makes mistakes, he slowly learns what it means to respect and appreciate women.
Adam Brody did a fantastic job. Being known best for his role in the teen drama "The O.C.", Brody really fit perfectly into his role for this film. Meg Ryan did a very decent job of playing a women struggling with so much.
A woman whose relationship with her children is rocky, whose husband is having an affair, and who is dealing with cancer. Kristen Stewart's performance was like every single other performance she has ever done.
If you watch "Adventureland" or "Into the Wild" or "Twilight," she is the same character in every movie. However, it seems to work in this film. Her chemistry with Adam Brody appears on screen.
I would recommend "In The Land Of Women" to anyone.
