Review of In the Land of Women (2007) by Jeff S — 04 Dec 2011
All right, suffice to say, I had very low expectations going into this one, if not based on the title alone. But it wasn't all that bad! The characters were interesting; it was nice they each had their own personal demons and issues.
However, WAY too much of a soap opera-esque atmosphere for this film to excel, and it was a bit cliched. And characters like the grandmother and younger sister were unnecessary; more time should have been spent developing the characters they had.
As a result, you still don't really feel like you know the players by the time the credits role. Plus, it was borderline depressing, and not in a good way.
