Review of In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) by Bekah L — 18 Dec 2011
An intense, smart, and well crafted film. Despite the nature of the conflict, it navigates through without taking sides or preaching a political viewpoint. The scenes of brutality are shown without an excess of gore but are handled deftly so they still deliver a powerful impact.
Juxtaposed with the horrors of war are more intimate scenes between the 2 leads that are artistically framed and rendered. Tasteful, sensitive, beautiful. One of the years best and one of the best of its genre.
