Review of In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) by Jj H — 06 Jan 2012
I found this a powerful and important film worth seeing for anyone interested in the former Yugoslavia, war crimes and human rights atrocities, and/or the strange lines between love and compromise people can experience during wartime.
Yes it is long and tough, but Jolie clearly meant it to be that way, as was the war itself, and it is realistic when it comes to the violence portrayed (I have heard former victims of that war have said the same after the film).
Cinematically I found it very well shot and the acting good. I am especially interested to see what the Serbian response will be, as well as the Bosnian and Croat responses.
